"Heeey, you've reached Yang! Well, actually, you didn't reach far enough, 'cause I'm not here right now! But don't yang up! Just leave a message on this baby, and I'll get back to you soon enough, okay?"
[Yang please... Though it's not like Kashuu doesn't have a similar mentality. Good work, team!]
They're gonna run out of ugly ones to take over at this rate, yeah? They're moving fast.
[And most of them get away after the robots are destroyed... Kashuu doesn't trust those ghost-busting vacuums either, so it's like a double-loss scenario.]
Nope. That stuff's what Taroutachi, Kousetsu or Ishikirimaru handle. [He's too #kegare to be a priestly or holy sword.] So I can't really purify or cleanse these guys... I can only make sure the stuff they inhabit doesn't go off to kill people. Or give 'em massages, I guess.
I can still fight! Just cover me if any of those creepy robots comes back for another hug. [Fighting them off is a true struggle...] Sooo, I guess we should go after the ones that can actually move first.
Oh. [OH... Well, then. Possessions are No Bueno... His shoulders seem to tense a little, even though he's seen no sign of these particular ghosts doing the possession tango just yet.]
["A ghost I couldn't hurt" doesn't ring too strangely to Kashuu, who's used to normal humans not being able to hurt ghosts anyway. But with the way she trails off, it's easy to tell she didn't have a good time during that ordeal, and he's both empathetic on her behalf and miffed at whatever set off that upsetting haunting.]
Did anyone else see that ghost? D'you guys know if it's still around? Something like that probably needs to be sealed.
It disappeared... I mean, by the time I got out, I was trying to get help, but there was someone with me, and he died--
[ Yang breaks off again, shaking her head a little more fiercely this time. Seren's since disappeared from the colony, but it's still all too easy to remember his weight in her arms and how the life had just drained out of him before she could do anything. ]
[Kashuu's heard little snippets here and there - death is cheap, things like that - but a death is still a death in the end, isn't it? Even if a person comes back (like he had done), that doesn't erase the trauma of dying.
Or of being around, helpless to stop it as someone else died.]
...I'm gonna let Haruji know that there's something like that out here, okay? If it can't be hurt but it can still kill, it'll need to be taken out right away if it's ever seen again.
[There's something about his clipped tone that sounds more suited to battlefields and captain's tables than the usual flighty lilt it carries, but that's probably not a surprise. Before anything else, he is still a sword - even if she might detect some empathy, too.]
[ Like Yang's going to protest. She hasn't seen the thing since, but that doesn't mean it's not still out there somewhere, waiting to strike again, claim more victims, and disappear with no one being able to leave a scratch on it. ]
[When the wall shatters, it's not the noise of it collapsing that Naoki notices, no-- he's not doing much, relaxing, book in hand (not turned off from reading despite the debacle from a little ago) when the sensations slam into him. It nearly erases his noticing the sound altogether. If he did notice, it's practically wiped from his mind.]
Ngkk...
[At once he's curling, coiling himself into a ball up with his hands clutching his head, squeezing it between his palms, braced to either side of it. His palms are crushed over his ears, as though he can block out the sudden sensations that overwhelm him. His eyes have gone wide, strained, pupils dilated into what look like slits, his breaths at once laboured and sounds choked in his throat.
He can't...!
It's bad enough if you can sense it. It's worse when your ability to sense the negative is so much stronger than the positive. He feels sick to his stomach, his head is whirling, the horn on the back of his neck feels hot, skin burning, this is too much--]
[ Yang doesn't notice it quite to the overwhelming extent that Naoki does-- honestly, what alerts her is his reaction, and she shifts Zwei quickly off her lap and hurrying over to where her boyfriend is curled in a panicky ball. ]
Naoki?! Hey!!
[ She's resting a hand on his back, rubbing anxiously, but not sure if this will actually help or not. What happened? ]
[At first, Naoki flinches-- but he recognises her touch and her presence, it's just that everything else is so overwhelming. His breath shudders and his teeth clench tight together.]
There's something--
[He tries to explain because he can feel her worry too, though it's a small flicker at the edge of a dense cloud of negative presence that's bearing down on him.] Kh...
Hey... [ Slowly, gently, she moves one hand up, to run her fingers through his hair. ] Focus on me, okay? I've got you.
[ She can ask questions later, but he's answered one-- there's something happening, and whatever it is, it's affecting him pretty powerfully. So Yang takes a deep breath and concentrates on feeling as calm as she can. She may be one small flicker in a sea of negativity, but she also wants him to know she's here. He doesn't have to face this on his own. ]
[Naoki's breaths are ragged, sometimes stopping altogether before escaping him in a laboured huff. He turns into her, his head leaning against her chest, his eyes clamping tightly shut.
It's too much, he wants to tell her, at the same time he wants to tell her not to worry. Clenching his jaw, he tries to do what she says, though it's almost impossible to attempt to tune out the overwhelming spiritual sense as the ghosts flood into the colony.
Still, as they disperse, he can manage to focus a little more. Little by little.]
D'you have a description you can give? Something specific to look out for, or...
[Was it just GENERIC GHOST... like the ghosts here... That would definitely be a problem, if it could just vanish and blend in with these lesser harmful ones.]
