"Heeey, you've reached Yang! Well, actually, you didn't reach far enough, 'cause I'm not here right now! But don't yang up! Just leave a message on this baby, and I'll get back to you soon enough, okay?"
It's hard, considering the fact that Natalia knows that if any of her friends were in he situation, making excuses for someone who isn't there, she'd be just as frustrated about it. But it's hard to reconcile that with the feelings of a promise that she'd held onto for years, perhaps a bit unhealthily.
For now though, she just sets her bowl of ice cream aside and hugs her stuffed animal closer to her.]
I think.... he's trying to leave his past behind him, as though he's not actually Luke at all.
[ . . . . ] But he remembers the promise he made to me. I'm just uncertain as to whether or not he wants to keep it.
[Ah well, the memory of the promise still manages to bring a smile to Natalia's face so she nods her head in affirmation.]
It was a promise that we would spend the rest of our lives together, working to make sure that our country is a prosperous land, free of war and poverty.
[Natalia's first love is her country, let's be real.]
... I've believed in those words for so long, I'm not sure if I know how to let them go.
Honestly, I don't think you have to. If he was trying to think of the world like you were thinking about the country, maybe he's just trying to protect it in a way he couldn't do as a king.
... [ BUT. ]
Then again, that's still no reason to not contact you.
[But she just hugs her animal closer to her again and she hums thoughtfully.]
Yet I still can't find fault with him. It's irritating and bothersome, it's true - but.... it's as if I wasn't in his life for seven years. Perhaps he's just... forgotten how to rely on me.
Then I think he's gotta work hard to make it up to you as a fiancee and you should totally go do fun romantic things without him until he comes to his senses.
[That much manages to get Natalia to laugh. Oh Yang.]
Should I...? [She shakes her head.] No, I think that'd be too awful to him.
I've already lived seven years thinking that I was engaged to someone else entirely. I couldn't knowingly go on dates with another. I imagine that's far too neglectful of me.
[ . . . . Honestly, if it were anyone but Yang, she would take even longer to give her answer-]
Luke didn't want to be engaged to me for those 7 years. I didn't want to admit it... I kept hoping that perhaps he would remember our promise one day out of his amnesia.
I would rather err on the side of caution than pushed my hopes on someone who doesn't want them again.
[Yang, please. She gets maybe one pat in before Natalia laughs and lightly bats her friend's hand away.]
No, but it's still unfair. [ . . . . ] He was a bit of a brat and made his feelings on the matter clear, but I still kept hoping.
[Natalia just shrugs faintly.] I suppose I'm content to remain hoping for a bit longer. After all, it's not everyday that I'll meet a man who loves my country as much as I do.

Am I really?
I've been content with waiting 7 years for Luke to remember as is....

I'll keep that in mind. But pardon me if I don't think I'm quite ready for that regardless.

For a guy in a mask.

Well, I suppose there's no harm to trying again. One of these days, I'll get him to remove his mask. I'm certain of it!
